History

Botanic Home & Garden Centre was first opened in Fota Retail Village in Carrigtwhill, Co. Cork in early 2018 by Jody Smith. Jody is a horticulture graduate (The National Botanic Gardens of Ireland, Dublin), with over 25 years’ experience working in the horticulture and retail trades. His aim was to build a modern and vibrant garden centre which caters to both contemporary and traditional home and garden styles, and that has excellent customer service at the heart of the business. Jody built a great team of diverse yet like-minded horticulturalists and gardening enthusiasts, whose hard work has resulted in Botanic Home & Garden Centre being a destination retail outlet in East Cork. In early 2020 Jody opened a sister store in Drinagh Retail Park in Blackhorse, Co. Wexford and put another team together, led by our Wexford Manager Luke Hennessey, who ensure a similar high standard of customer service and a wonderful range of gardening products are available in our new store.

In both stores, Botanic Home & Garden Centre has a wide range of plants for both seasonal colour and year-round elegance. We also stock a wide range of BBQ’s and outdoor furniture, as well as other garden accessories, to enable you to make the most of your outdoor living space. And if you are looking for that perfect gift for birthdays, weddings, Christmas and other special occasions, look no further: we have pretty pots, chic mirrors, fabulous frames and perfect plant stands amongst our wide range of striking gift options.

Botanic Home & Garden Centre is located alongside Meadows & Byrne in both locations, as well as being beside Bakestone Café in the Cork store and Kelly’s Café in the Wexford store – so why not make a day trip of it!

Yes! We are very aware that there can be a lot of plastic containers used for the plants. We return much of our plastic trays to one of our suppliers, who washes and re-uses them for new plants. You can do the same (do wash them out first). Furthermore, most of the plastic pots we use are recyclable, just look for the recycling symbol on the plastic, and then you can pop them in with your household recycling waste. You can also upcycle the pots and make something new. Or you can hold on to them for the next time you buy some of our range of seeds and bulbs, and propagate them in these pots. You can then pop the pots into ceramic containers – see our full range of beautiful stone and ceramic containers in-store.
